Fishing Fiordland
Salt water fishing in Fiordland NZ can be a sea fisho’s dream.
Because of it’s isolation the resource is not under the same pressure as closer to civilization; the species are varied and the sizes canbe amazing.
Hapuka (groper), pākirikiri (blue cod), pūpakapaka (trumpeter) are three of the prize species in Fiordland but there are many more to chose. Tarkihi, kumukumu (gurnard) and mararī (greenbone) are also prized for the table.
Then there is the gamefish; southern blue fin tuna are around for the summer and can wear the fittest fisho out. We have even seen marlin tracking the boat and broadbill are definitely in the deep.
So, whether it’s the deliciousness of the feast or the challenge of the fight, salt water fishing in Fiordland can be an adrenaline junkies dream!
Diving Fiordland.
Jacques Cousteau listed Fiordland in his Top 10 of world diving destinations and we’ve had dive photo journalists backing that up from their experience; in fact one listed it in his Top 3 if not the best!
With water clarity giving 50m + visibility at times you’ll be amazed at the things you can see from afar.
And the light and the colours are spectacular even at night.

Hunting Fiordland.
Red deer and Wapiti (and moose) were released here for a gentleman’s sport.
Now I’m not sure about you but I don’t know too many gentlefolk that will climb these here hills to chase a deer. So, the park was full of them, that is until the days of the venison wars.
Nowadays though the numbers have been reduced compared to then, there are still many fine specimens to stalk and shoot your rifle or your camera at.
